Carl Rogers

Carl Rogers (8th Jan.1902-4 Feb.1987)was in influential American psychologist and among the founders of the humanistic approach to psychology. Rogers is widely Considered to be one of the  Founding  Fathers of psychology research and was Honored for his Pioneering research with the Award for Distinguished Scientific.Contributions by the American psychological Association in 1956.
The person  centered approach his own unique approach to understanding personality and human relationship found wide application in various domains such as psychology and counseling (client-centered therapy) Education (student centered leering). Organizations and others group settings. For Gis professional work he was bestowed the award for distinguished professional conurbations to psychology by the alp. In 1972.

Biography

Rogers was born January 8—1902.in the suburbia oak park ,Iuiuis,Chicago,his father .Walter H, Rogers, was  a civil engineer and his mother .Julia .M Cushing was a louse wife mother ,Julia ,M Cushing was  a louse wife and devour Pentecostal Christian,carl was the fourth of their six children.

            In 1945.he was invited to set up a course selling canter at the university of Chicago .while a professor of psychology at the university of Chicago (1945-57) Rogers helped to establish a counseling centre connected with the university and there conducted studies to determine the effectiveness of his methods. his finding and theories appeared in client-centared therapy1951 and             psychotherapy and personality  changes (1954). One of his graduated in client-centered the suddenly at the university of Chicago.Thomus Gordon, established the parent effectiveness training movement. In 1956.Rogers become the first president of the American academy of psychotherapy pists.He taught psychology at the university of Wisconsin. Madison (1957-63). Carl Rogers was also one of the people who questioned.

Rogers left the WBSI to help found the canter for studies of the person in 1968. His later books include Carl Rogers on personal power (1977) and freedom to learu for the 80’s (1983).He remained a resident of La Jolla for the rest of life. Doing therapy. giving speeches and writing until his sudden death in 1987.Rogers suffered a fall that resulted in a fractured pelvis he had life alert and was able to contact paramedicls.He had a successful operation but his pancreousfailed the next right and he died a few days later.
Rogers last years were devoted to applying his theories in situations of political oppression and national social behavior is not “owned” by the individual.

Client centered Therapy
What is client centered therapy ?
Addictions such as alcoholism and eating disorders like bulimia and anorexia are treated with medical psychological therapies so that healing is long –term and comprehensive. One effective therapy used to fight eating disorders in eating disorder  residential programs and depression in depression treatment facilities is called client centered or person, centered therapy
            Client centered or person centered therapy was established by Carl Rogers in 1940 as an alternative to the existing orientations that relied on guidance or interpretation. Through this non-directive approach to therapy a therapist is able  to relay back to the patient what they have expressed so that the patient can identify the changes they would like to make in life Rogers provided evidence that                                                                     
Process of client self –discovery and actualization accrued in response to the therapist supplying a consistent empathic understanding of the client’s experience. Based on the attitude of acceptance and respect. This self –discovery  has proverb to be especially beneficial to those in eating disorder treatment clients trauma recovery. This was later refined Rogers defining the therapeutic qualities of “empathy,congruence,and unconditional positive regard”. Those qualities have become the basis of today’s therapeutic approaches client-centered own the expansion of self awareness the enhancement of self esteem , and grater  self reliance ,some the positive out comes for client include a greater sense of freedom.spoutaneity,and openness.   
client centered therapy has prevue to  be particularly useful where treating dual diagnosis or low self-esteem in depression  treatment  facilities. Addictions in drug and alcohol rehab centers  and disorders   in eating disorders treatment clients by allowing the individual to connect with his/her inner –self one is better  equipped to trcnscured the limitations of addictions and other compulsions
